02 English
Narrow; beginning at the middle of the upper lip the whiskers are very long and pulled to the side, slightly curled; the ends are pointed slightly upward ; areas past the corner of the mouth must be shaved.
Artificial styling aids permitted.
03 Dali
Narrow; long points bent or curved steeply upward; areas past the corner of the mouth must be shaved.
Artificial styling aids permitted.
04 Handlebar
Bushy; small, upward pointing ends; areas past the corner of the mouth must be shaved.
Artificial styling aids permitted.
05 Wild West
Large; bushy; whiskers brushed from the middle to the side of the upper lip; areas more than 1.5 cm (0.6 in) past the corner of the mouth must be shaved.
Artificial styling aids are permitted.
06 Fu Manchu
Areas other than the upper lip or up to 2 cm (0.8 in) past the corner of the mouth and downward along the side of the chin must be shaved. Ends long and pointing down.

07 Imperial
Whiskers growing from the cheeks and upper lip; chin shaved; whiskers growing from the cheeks point upward.

08 Freestyle
All moustaches not in any other category. Areas more than 1.5 cm (0.6 in) past the corner of the mouth must be shaved. Otherwise, anything goes! Creativity encouraged.

Goatees and other partial beards

10 Musketeer
Small pointed goatee, clearly separated from the moustache, which is especially prominent.

11 Sideburns
Any length. Moustache optional.

This is not a category of the Association of German Beard Clubs.
It was only a category of the worldchampionship in Carson City 2003.

Full beards
13 Natural.
Full beard flowing downward. Moustache fully integrated.
No artificial styling aids permitted.
14 Full beard, styled moustache.
The beard flows downward without the use of artificial styling aids; the moustache is styled with artificial styling aids.
15 Garibaldi
Wide and full; bottom round; moustache integrated.
No artificial styling aids permitted.
16 Verdi
Bottom round; relatively short; cheeks slightly shaved; moustache prominent.
Artificial styling aids permitted.

17Freestyle.
Anything goes! Creativity encouraged.

"Artificial styling aids" include moustache wax, hair spray, hair creme, styling foam, hair gel, and the like.
Competitors will enter in the category of their choosing but may be placed into a different category if they do not meet the specifications for the chosen category.
